We planned a full Saturday including the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Unfortunately we didn’t plan on the MTA playing havoc with the Q train, and ending up at the Garden, long after the free entry was up.
Disappointed, we made our way to the flagship location of the Brooklyn Flea, a short drive away. The Fort Greene location features almost a hundred and fifty vendors . The 40,000-square-foot schoolyard at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School is part vintage bazaar, part hipster hang, part old-fashioned town square, and part food bonanza.
With various pop up stores and pretty knick knacks, it’s well worth a visit. Check out this huge tent in the middle of it all- Dan’s Parent’s House- for a beautiful blast from the past, and the Lego collection and figures for sale, a few tables away. The shaved ice- is glorious on a hot summer’s day.
Please note that the market is on till November and moves indoors during the winter months, but that really shouldn’t deter you.
Let me know if you’ve been here… and liked it!
